Over the past few months, a growing awareness has emerged within the UK social care sector. The care management software designed to support adult social care providers, care homes and home care agencies is simply not fit for purpose. This issue has been repeatedly highlighted at UK social care industry events and care tech conferences, where we’ve met an increasing number of registered managers, care operations professionals and care technology leaders who share our frustration.
The recent Care Tech Avengers event was a particular turning point. It brought together innovation focused care providers, care tech solution experts, integrated care boards representatives and sector thought leaders who all recognise the same fundamental problem. Most social care software solutions are not designed with the end user in mind.
The Cracks in the System Affecting UK Care Providers
The UK adult social care industry has long faced systemic challenges. These include care workforce shortages, recruitment issues, financial pressures and CQC compliance requirements. While digital transformation in social care is often positioned as the answer, the reality is that much of the technology currently used across care services is adding complexity rather than reducing it.
Many care providers, residential care homes and domiciliary care services are locked into rigid and outdated systems that do not reflect how care is actually delivered. Instead of supporting teams, this poorly designed care software forces staff to work around the system rather than with it.
In some cases, widely adopted care management systems have actively disrupted community care teams, demonstrating that the wrong technology can be more damaging than having no system at all.
A Growing Movement for Change Driven by Care Tech Innovation
At the Care Tech Avengers event, we spoke with many UK care professionals who feel let down by the technology that is meant to support them. A recurring theme was that software providers for social care are often too far removed from the realities of care delivery, workforce management and regulatory compliance including CQC standards.
Instead of listening to the people delivering care, technology decisions are frequently imposed from the top down. This approach has created a disconnect that leaves care organisations struggling with tools that do not align with their workflows, regulatory obligations or day to day pressures in adult social care services.
Our recent blog covering the Care Tech Avengers event highlights both this frustration and the optimism emerging across the sector. The UK social care sector is increasingly recognising the need for change, and there is now real momentum behind the demand for better care tech solutions and digital care platforms.
CarePoint 365 Built for You, Not for Us
At CarePoint 365, we believe digital care software should adapt to the people using it, not the other way around. That belief shapes how we design and deliver care technology.
Rather than offering a rigid, one size fits all system, our care software platform is tailored to each UK social care provider. This includes adapting to individual care workflows, integrating with HR and rostering systems, supporting GDPR UK data protection, and enabling clearer CQC reporting and care quality tracking.
We understand that no two care providers operate in exactly the same way. Their technology should reflect that reality. That is why we work alongside care providers, listening carefully and building solutions that genuinely support better care delivery and care operations.
A Future Designed Around Care Providers
Recognising that social care software is broken is the first step towards meaningful improvement. Across the sector, more people are questioning whether current care management technology is truly serving those delivering care.
At CarePoint 365, we are proud to be part of a movement focused on digital transformation in social care that empowers providers rather than creating additional burden. Our commitment is to deliver flexible, practical care tech solutions that make everyday work easier for care teams.
The people working in UK adult social care deserve systems that support them, not systems they must work around. Together, we can build a better future for UK social care technology and digital care innovation.
